Your first call

Call the agent yourself before any customer does. It takes two minutes and catches almost every setup mistake.

Ring your Dialup number from your own mobile and have a normal conversation. Ask the things a customer would: what time you're open on Saturday, how much a service costs, where you are. Tell it your name and see whether it picks it up. Ask to speak to someone, which should raise a callback request. On Dialup Desk, try booking something for Thursday afternoon.

Then check five things

Open the agent and go to Conversations.

  1. The call is there, within a few seconds of hanging up.
  2. The transcript matches what you said. Mangled words are usually line quality, not a setting.
  3. The recording plays.
  4. The summary arrives. It's written after the call ends, so give it a minute and refresh.
  5. A contact exists under Contacts, with your name on it if you gave one.

If something looked wrong, the help section works down from the most likely cause.

Before real customers ring

  • The subscription shows Active and a phone number appears in Settings
  • Your business name is what customers call you, and the address is written the way you'd say it
  • Additional notes covers the five things you get asked most
  • Every open day is ticked, and upcoming holidays are in as closures
  • Your main services are listed, each with a price and a realistic duration
  • Anything you don't offer right now is switched off rather than deleted
  • The tone and language lines in Context say what you want
  • You asked about hours, a price and your address, and all three answers were right
  • You asked for a human and the callback request came through

Then forward gradually, starting with when no answer and when busy rather than all calls. See getting calls to your agent.
